2017 Tennis Nashville Fall Tournament

Jointly sponsored by Tennis Nashville and Nashville Tennis Meetup, the tournament will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Courts, with a mixer to follow (location to be announced).

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR ONE MORE PLAYER!

This is a "social" doubles tournament where everyone has an opportunity to win, based on their NTRP player rating (click here for a self-rating chart), and the number of games individually won. Plus we have some great prizes lined up for an anyone-can-win drawing at the post-tournament mixer! (Be sure to let us know you are coming on the registration form.)

To register for the tournament, click on the link to the right to fill out your registration form. After you click "Submit," you will be given an opportunity to pay your registration fee using PayPal.  There is a $35 tournament registration fee to cover expenses and registration is not confirmed until the entry fee is paid.  ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED NOT LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18.

Sign-in will be at 11:00 am the day of the tournament.

tournament format

(Note that the format may be subject to change depending on the number of players signing up and the distribution of player ratings. This may also be subject to minor revisions or corrections. Changes were made 10/6, marked in red.)

1) All registered players will be divided into Teams consisting of two (2) individual teams of doubles partners.

2) The two individual teams on a Team will each be at a different level, if possible dependent upon sign-ups. (For example: one doubles team Intermediate and one team Advanced):

3) Individual team levels:

a) 7.5 to 9.0 (Advanced)
b) 6.0 to 7.0 (Intermediate)

4) The individual teams of doubles partners will be grouped into the Teams by the Competition Committee.

5) Partners on individual doubles teams will be chosen either by:

a) If players want to have a doubles partner that they know, they can pair up, provided that their combo ratings fit into one of the levels. Their partner should be noted in "Comments and Special Requests" on the registration form, although they can notify the tournament after registration, but prior to the day of the tournament.

b) The Competition Committee will match registered players without a partner to come up with a combo rating that conforms to one of the levels.

6) Each individual team of doubles partners will play four 8-game sets with regular scoring against doubles teams of the same combo level. Each set will be played against a different doubles team (if possible, dependent on registrations).

7) One new can of tennis balls will be provided for each set played.

8) Each individual team of doubles partners will track the number of games won and report back to the registration desk.

9) The individual doubles team with the highest number of wins will be the 1st Place winner of their level.

10) In the event of a tie to win the level, the doubles teams will play one 10-point tiebreaker game with regular scoring.

11) Prizes will go to the 1st and 2nd place Teams (each Team consisting of two individual doubles teams) in each level.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, October 21, 2017!
